Justin Bieber nominated for a BET Award? Seems like an odd match, but the teen superstar is in fact nominated for Best New Artist at the upcoming awards show. Biebs will face off against Young Money, Wale, Melanie Fiona and Nicki Minaj. “He makes the type of music our audience likes,” Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programing and Specials, said in a statement. “Bieber has crossed the color boundaries the same way that hip-hop has crossed the boundaries the other way for a number of years.” As a newcomer to the music world, Justin has already made big-time connections in the R&B and hip-hop fields, working with artists like Usher, Akon and Ludacris. R&B moguls Jay-Z and Beyonce scored five and four nominations respectively.Queen Latifah will host the BET Awards June 27.
